What college is right for me? Start with a match quiz that's honest.
Beyond Maybe's college match quiz asks seven essential questions about you (not 200) and shows you which kinds of schools fit what you actually said matters. It takes about eight minutes, it's free, and “I don't know yet” is always a valid answer.
What a college-fit quiz can (and can't) tell you
A good quiz can narrow thousands of options into a shortlist that matches your priorities, show you honest cost and outcome data, and hand you a next step. It cannot predict admission, tell you the “best” college, or know things you didn't share. Any quiz that promises those things is selling something.
What Beyond Maybe considers
Academics
A rough GPA and any courses or test scores you choose to share, compared with each school's published admitted ranges. Grades never disqualify you here.
Affordability
Your family's rough yearly budget against published tuition and average net price, clearly labeled, never confused with each other.
Location & distance
How far from home feels right, plus in-state pricing where your state is confirmed. No home given? Distance stays honestly unknown.
Programs & interests
Your interests and career curiosities, connected to programs and majors, the seed of every suggestion.
Campus & support
Big or small, city or college town, plus support factors like first-generation programs and accessibility services.
Dealbreakers
Anything that rules a school out for you. We flag conflicts instead of hiding them.
How missing information is treated
Skip any question and nothing is invented. No answer about money means no affordability claims; no home city means no distance math. Your results tell you exactly which missing piece would sharpen them, and skipped questions never count against you.
How this differs from rankings
Rankings answer “which college is most prestigious on average?” A match quiz answers “which college fits this student's priorities?” Those are different questions. Beyond Maybe groups schools into honest categories: strong possibility, possible, reach, highly selective, by comparing your record with published admissions data. A category is an honest read, never a probability or a guarantee.
What happens after the quiz
- A summary of what we understood, editable if anything reads wrong.
- Possible pathways and example schools, shown only when your answers support them.
- A grade-appropriate next step (a 9th grader gets exploration, a senior gets deadlines).
- Everything stays on your device unless you choose to share it.
